Moving Memories – A look back at 2025

moving-home-in-2026

As 2025 comes to a close, we’d like to take a big step back and look at what we’ve achieved in our 65th year of Moving and Storing. It’s been a very busy year for us, with more moves taking place than in any other year of moving. We lost an important member of the family, but gained another removal company at the same time. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this brief look back of Moving Memories in 2025!

January

The month of January was very busy for us, giving us a great head start. However, things were put on hold as Storm Eowen hit everyone in Scotland, but over 86k of you watched our fake tornado at Purdie Worldwide HQ!

February

Although February is the shortest month of the year, it felt like one of the longest! Our Iain was lucky enough to help move the King of Gladiators Finlay Anderson, and we got some drone shots of our depot in Blackburn thanks to our marketing manager, Mark Scoular.

March

Studio Gibli images were all the rage back in March, and we couldn’t help ourselves but to add our own touch of Purdie class to this new artistic medium. We had our Purdie Grand National Derby, and we congratulated young Daniel on passing his class 1 licence!

April

For April Fools Day, we discvovered exactly how strong one of our cardboard boxes are, after being shot at by Mr Archery, Nathan Macqueen MBE. However, our most popular post celebrated our local club’s Boys 2009 Scottish Cup Win! A fantastic acheivement for a small local club like Blackburn, something we’re very proud to be a part of.

May

Although May was busier than expected, we still managed to help out the Galaday Committee prepare for the galaday, and help them with the design and print of the Galaday brochure! It’s all in a day’s work here at Purdie Worldwide! We were also lucky to be present at the BAR’s annual conference, this time in Liverpool!

June

June was a huge month for us. We lost one of dear friends and colleagues, George Reynolds. Always a smiling familiar face in Blackburn, George had worked with us decades, and will be sadly missed.

On the flip side, we did purchase another removal company, this time down in Dumfries, as we welcomed the Kenneth Hayton brand under the Purdie umbrella.

Our Managing Director, Neil Purdie also kicked off our Charity Challenge for 2025 in June, by walking 10,000 steps every day for the whole month of June!

July

July was a very busy month for us, but it didn’t stop us moving and storing all over country. Our Purdie Worldwide sponsored football kits were spotted in Africa thanks to Andy Sheridan Goalkeeping Academy, but the real story of July was our Charity Challenge with Paralympic Gold Medalist, Nathan Macqueen MBE!

A team from Purdie Worldwide, and Matt Prince from AM Phillip, accompanied Nathan and his wife as they cycled coast to coast across Scotland using the canal towpaths. Not only did they totally smash the challenge, they reached over 100k people throughout the month of July.

August

In August, Archie ensured our resident swifts were nesting safely in our yard, we helped launch “The Burnie Podcast” a local football podcast for our locally sponsored community football club, and we also held our annual Quiz Night, raising almost £1000.

However, the main focus of August was on our GM, Robert Cooper! He took on the Macmillan Mighty Hike for a record third time, raising well over £1000 alone for his efforts. Be sure to check out the full video here.

September

We had hoped to take a breather in September, but our customers had other ideas, as we logged the busiest September to date, moving over 100 people in just a few weeks!

As always we hosted our annual coffee morning, and although not as busy as previous years, we did raise £110! However, our most popular post was a short video of us using a HiAb to take a sofa out of window that got over 105k views!

October

Although Halloween wasn’t nearly as scary as we’d hoped, the leads kept flowing in, with hardly a drop from the summer. The reviews kept piling in and we welcomed 2 new vehicles to the fleet.

Our most popular post wasn’t one we’d expected to be popular, but it was either Stu’s good looks or Robert’s shirt that saw us get nearly 10,000 views for our most popular post in October.

November

We had about 2 weeks of rest before the Christmas rush hit us hard, with bookings being taken all the way up to Christmas Eve. We welcomed removal newboys, JR Removals to the depot, and made some new friends in the process.

We had our sister company, Kenneth Hayton Removals, up to Blackburn on several occassions, with a post of Neil barking orders our most popular post for November.

December

December, probably one of the busiest months for a removal company. Not only are you trying to wind down and set everything up for the year ahead, you’ve also got everyone trying to move home before Christmas, and there’s just not enough days in the month!

However, as always we try to raise spirits with our 12 days of Christmas Campaign! This year was our most popular Christmas giveaway ever, with over 200k views to the posts over the 12 days.
